Work has just started on Gwalia Housing’s new affordable housing development near Swansea’s seafront.
Thier building 29 new homes on the site of the former Pantycelyn Hotel on Oystermouth Road. The £2.95 million development will comprise of 1 bedroom apartments, 3 of which are wheelchair accessible.
The design of the new development has taken inspiration from the surrounding Victorian architecture; a series of gabled bays give the impression of 6 individual rather than one large building and a series of pastel colours have been proposed to fit in with the neighbouring guest houses, complementing the seaside feel of the frontage.
Jonathan Hughes, Gwalia’s Director of Development, said “Our commitment to providing high quality, affordable homes continues with this new development at the heart of Swansea City Centre. Local contractors, Gravan Construction, who have recently completed the development of Mumbles Reach and the refurbishment and extension of Hillside care home in Ffynone, are developing the site on behalf of Gwalia and Phillips Services are providing all of the Electrical works for the project.
